"Absurd Fairgrounds Chronicles"
The theme of this collection is mobile amusement parks. The motivation for this project stems from my experience as a cross-disciplinary photography student. Transitioning from the Chinese art context to the British social environment, I felt lost during my first few months in the UK, unsure of what subjects or themes to capture.
An unexpected opportunity arose when my friends and I visited London’s renowned Winter Wonderland. This event is a temporary attraction, set up annually around Christmas and usually assembled and dismantled within just two or three days. This rapid and ephemeral transformation was a significant cultural shock for me, as I had always perceived amusement parks to be permanent fixtures. However, the transient nature of Winter Wonderland, despite being a highly famous theme park, piqued my interest greatly.
Determined to explore this concept further, I decided to document various amusement parks from a third-person perspective in a documentary style, across different region.
